Well we decided to invite some friends over to do it and they really enjoyed it, unfortunately these friends are moving away to another state so we wanted to get them a going away present. This was perfect. They absolutely loved it. We usually use an Ion Outback, which definitely sounds better than this, but is a lot more expensive and comes with a wired mic and doesn't look nearly as cool. This one sound pretty awesome though and is perfect for travel and other things, whereas the outback is good for travel, but it's large. The LED effects on this one as well as the spinning ball has my wife wanting to trade ours in and get one of these. It's pretty cool looking. Also, the fact this has a wireless mic and you don't need a transmitter is huge. Provided you have the right frequency you should be able to connect even more wireless mics on it. This is definitely something we might think about replacing our 3 yr old Ion Outback with, but we are giving this one to our friends. It does get pretty loud and will definitely fill a large space without any static. The Outback has better bass, but it's hardly noticeable. The battery life on this is better than what our Outback is now. The outback says about 12 hours and now we are lucky to get 4 out of it. This one lasts about 4-6. I would recommend this as it is excellent for the price point and just the effects make it almost worth it. You probably could use this speaker at a small bar and it would set the environment pretty well. Everyone had a blast with it!! We actually were able to get good use out of it since we connected it via bluetooth to hear the numbers being called out. During break time, we used it to sing karaoke w/the disco lights and everything going as well as sing her happy birthday!! It definitely helped with creating a fun and festive atmosphere. Cool features of also being able to play the FM radio as well as turn on just the disco or just the front lights or both! Batteries for it lasted all night and all I had to do was turn on the mic and it just is already connected, Super user friendly and fun for adults! Now I need to get a 2nd mic for this!!I was happy when I received the karaoke machine but I was disappointed when I realized that batteries for the mic wasn't included
